THE SUNDAY SAUCE

Our Pecoraro family history dates back 400 years to the year 1629 when Salvatore’ Pecoraro was born in Telve, Italy. Throughout the years, the family moved from Telve to nearby Austria, to the Abruzzo region of Italy, to Palmero, Sicily.
My grandfather, Natale Pecoraro was born in 1862 and died in 1950. He married my grandmother Josephine Marchese and together they had a large family! Our families marinara sauce recipe is over 160 years old and today we make our sauce the same way our ancestors did with the freshest ingredients.
My father always called it “The Sunday Sauce,” but every Italian family has their name for their sauce.
We slow-cook ours in small batches for several hours to ensure the flavors are melded to perfection.
Our sauce is vegan, ready for bread dipping, topping your pasta dishes, or adding to your favorite meatball recipes or seafood dishes. Wonderful as a pizza or calzone sauce!
